Introducing, Microsoft Copilot!

The dystopian series Black Mirror, which was broadcasted about 13 years ago and took the whole world by storm, forcing each of us to think about the future, perhaps predicted these days long ago. At the time, YouTube was just getting stronger, Apple had just launched the iPhone 4S series, and Microsoft had announced Office 365 for the first time. So how could Black Mirror have predicted 13 years from now? Would artificial intelligence really take over the world and destroy jobs accompanied by dramatic music, as feared?

As a millennial with a passion for animation movies, the movie “WALL-E” released in the early 2000s, not counting 1962 made “The Jetsons”, was able to predict the present: Maximum efficiency with minimum effort. So what does this mean? This is the process that starts with smartphone assistants taking your commands and making calls, and today, going into meetings for you and preparing a meeting summary for you.

So, where does Copilot fit into all of this?

Copilot, tell me who you are.

"Hi, I'm Copilot, an AI assistant that helps you write documents. I can create text according to your wishes and follow the instructions you provide. I'm powered by OpenAI's GPT-3 technology and learn from a large corpus of text on the internet."

I instantly clicked on the Copilot icon that appeared on my Word page, since there was no Turkish option yet, I gave a simple command in English as "Copilot, explain who you are in 2 sentences" and it wrote the paragraph above to me.

Do you remember the questions you asked when Apple's artificial intelligence assistant, Siri, was first released? So what questions did you ask after ChatGPT was released? Copilot is the corporate and creative equivalent of all this and more.

As a formal definition, Copilot combines the power of large language models (LLMs) with your data in the Microsoft Graph—your calendar, emails, chats, documents, meetings, and more—and Microsoft 365 apps, turning your words into the most powerful productivity tool on the planet. And it does so within existing Microsoft commitments to data security and privacy in the organization. Embedded in the Microsoft 365 apps we use every day, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and more work with you to unleash your creativity, unlock productivity, and expand your skills.
