Azure Active Directory Domain Services make it easy to move the apps that you are using to cloud environment with their unique ability. We announced the general preview of Azure AD Domain Services towards the end of last year. Since then, we have worked closely with our customers and learnt a lot from their feedbacks and suggestions after they activated their systems. This year in May, we announced some exciting new features and improvements like LDAP support, DNS configuration and customized OUs. We have continued to develop this service based on your feedbacks since May. Today, we are proud to announce that Azure Active Directory Domain Services are released for general use.

The Preview program was extremely successful since Over 5700 Azure AD tenants tested this service and shared their feedbacks. We thank all of our customers who participated this process for their effort and time contributing to the improvement this service. Here are some of the features that we added based on your feedbacks this year:

– Safe LDAP access to your administrated domain (over internet, even Amazon Web Services);
– DNS configuration ability on administrated domain for AAD DC Administrators;
– Creating Customized organizational unit ability for AAD DC Administrators.

A quick look: What is Azure AD Domain Services?
Azure AD Domain Services provide administrated domain services that are completely compatible with Windows Server Active Directory like domain connection, group policy, LDAP and Kerberos/NTLM authentication. You can use these domain services without needing to set up, manage or kludge domain controllers on cloud. Users can have access with their corporate ID information thanks to Azure AD Domain Services integration with Azure AD tenant. Besides, by using existing groups and user accounts for safe access to resources, you can make Azure Domain route of in-house resources easier with lift-and-shift application compared to the past.

 Either your Azure AD tenant is only on cloud or equaled with your in-house Active Directory, Azure AD Domain Services functionality works seamlessly. With equaled tenants, there is no need for a software setup other than Azure AD Connect.

Azure Active Directory Domain Services set up is easy. It only “activates” the service, and you only choose a DNS domain name for your administrated domain and a virtual network where you want to see your administrated domain.
